Marica - When we first created Carbon Tax Center we gave considerable thought to whether we should include "tax" in our name. We were fully aware of the fact that many people are scared off by the "T" word and we thought about a number of alternatives including "fee." We ultimately decided to use "tax" because that's the general term of art and if we had decided not to use the term we would have been vulnerable to the charge that we were playing word games, trying to pretend that a tax isn't really a tax, etc.

Did we make the right decision? We don't know for sure. We have received many suggestions such as yours and we are seriously considering changing to something like "Carbon Tax and Dividend Center".

hi -- I would like to consider donating to the CTC, but cannot get there unless you all consider changing your name! Do you want to help politicians and the media sell this? How are you going to ask a lay person to add a carbon tax to daily living? Did you hear that food prices are up?
