Your link to "a highly publicized speech to the U.S. Conference of Mayors" does not work. This one does

Nader's platform has always resonated with Democrats who would entertain it, but they clearly aren't fans of his politics. Any smearing is going to come from Democrats and will be political, not platform related.Regardless of how I actually vote, when asked I usually tell people I'm voting for Nader. Asked to justify, it is a great opportunity to explain something I find important like the difference between cap and trade versus a revenue neutral carbon tax.

Yes, Mr. Nader supports the carbon tax; there it is on his Twelver List. Most of the points on that list remind me of placards carried around The Monument in Logan Square here in Chicago by scruffy post-hippies: irrelevant, ineffective, slightly repulsive protests aimed at distant fuzzily outlined targets with poorly aimed short-range arms. I would wish the carbon tax were replaced by other causes. Although in concept the carbon tax is both liberal and conservative, to me it seems to overlap contemporary conservatism more. I fear Mr. Nader's support will do no favor to the cause of the carbon tax. [By the way, thinking about Twelvers, "Iman" means magnet in Spanish: I hope the carbon tax attracts ever increasing numbers of adherents.]
